Maiden centuries for Seaford kids

SEAFORD'S young guns were on the ball in their East Sussex Cricket League fixture at home to Sidley on Saturday.

Fifteen-year-old James Mason (102 not out) and 16-year-old Ryan Hodkinson (101 not out) scored maiden centuries in a 3rd XI club record second-wicket partnership of 210 as Seaford made 237-1 in 29 overs.

Sidley were 109-3 when the rain intervened, Seaford taking 13 points from the match.

The Seaford 1st XI game at home to Heathfield Park was called off at 5pm due to persistent rain. The umpires had been reluctant to start until the rain totally stopped and that never happened.

Tomorrow (Saturday) Seaford travel to Iden hoping to get their league campaign up and running with a victory.

Seaford 2nd XI were also washed out at St James's Jacobeans.

Both Newhaven games fell victims of the weather, the 1st XI at St Peters and the 2nd XI at home to Mayfield.
