Mega championship medal haul is not lost on Atlantis

The climax of the competition was again held at Crawley’s K2 Leisure Centre in the 50-metre long course pool, in a fast-paced competition with many outstanding performances.

Atlantis again performed brilliantly, the youngest of their swimmers in the ten-year-old age category through to the accomplished open group athletes.

Rising star Jamie Smith competed in the 10-11 year-old-age group and managed to achieve the top ten-year-old boy with some fierce swimming.

In the 12-year-old group it was business as usual for Michael Pallister with nine medals including four golds.

Thirteen-year-old trio Will Carey, Daryan De Klerk and Ryan Gant all pitched in with solid swimming.

Cameron Holden-Graham had a busy schedule of swims culminating in a well deserved silver in the 100m breaststroke. There were also medals for Dan Jones and Toby Van De Hut in the 15-year-old boys’ category.

The senior boys’ team of Joe Carter, George Charter, James Hartley, Andrew Kershaw, Cavan Murphy and Aiden Sparling performed well amongst some tough opposition. Highlights were Sparling’s bronze in the 200m fly and Murphy’s bronze in the 50m breast.

Eleven-year-old Kiran Sandhu had a busy weekend and Amber Ranson swam out of her skin for two backstroke gold medals.

In the next age group, Issy Hayes had some great swims with an impressive seven individual medals and training partner Olivia Round-Pitman managed two medals despite ending up in hospital the next day with a ruptured appendix.

There were three backstroke golds for Ethel Whyman and five golds for Rebecca Barber, the best tally from across the club. Amelia Wright added five medals to her trophy cabinet in the 14-year-old girls’ group and junior club captain Freya Fulcher made a clean sweep of gold medals in the three backstroke events.

Beth Brittons took a commendable five medals. Breaststroke ace Lily Davis bagged a brace of golds and Jade Stocker weighed in with a gold and silver medals.
