The Secretary’s Cup Final played at the Clayton and Keymer Royal British Legion saw 15 year old Dan Cowley-Stein taking advantage of his 100 points handicap by bringing the best out of Martin and to take the match to the wire. Martin opened up sprightly with numerous 20 plus breaks to claw back the deficit, however, this prompted Cowley-Stein to get his own game into action to ensure Martin did not overwhelm him. With the youngster requiring 13 points to win, he narrowly failed to secure a cannon which saw Martin take full advantage, he fluently built the points needed to secure the title by winning 250-237.

The Denman Cup was played at the Hassocks Mens Club where Martin was determined to gain the double when he was up against the MSBSL representative team skipper Ian Janman. The match saw both players displaying silky billiards, Martin building numerous breaks with his top one being 49 and Janman showed similar form by potting breaks of 63 and 40, the close encounter saw Martin gaining the title by winning 400-386.

The matches were well marshalled by Dennis Wakeford, Dave Fry and Roy Tucknott.
