Prospects against Spurs are decent, but Albion must get back to winning

It was a comfortable win in the end: Albion through to the last 16 of the league cup for the first time in 34 years. The prize? A trip to White Hart Lane to take on Premier League side Spurs.

I wasn't covering the Albion last time the two sides met competitively, but I feel like I know the game so well.

Three of my summarisers, recent and current, played in the heart of the defence that night, Guy Butters, Adam Virgo and Adam Hinshelwood. The final member of the back four was Kerry Mayo who has also popped up as a guest on occasion during the show.

During their time on the microphone alongside me, all of the stalwarts have chatted about that game and how Albion played so well, but failed to overcome their opponents.

The Tottenham line-up that night included Ledley King, Robbie Keane, Jermaine Defoe and Michael Carrick. Not bad.

Albion's prospects this October are decent with Mauriccio Pocchettino using second-string players in the competition.

Albion will be underdogs for the first time this season but that may well suit them. It will no doubt be a night to remember but also be a busy week, the game sandwiched between Rotherham at home the previous Saturday and Bournemouth away on the Friday.

Before all that though Albion must get back to winning ways in the Championship.

In such a tight division, it's imperative not to fall behind. But after a trip to the leaders this weekend and possibly two games against former managers, we will, for the first time, be able to properly assess the start to Sami Hyypiä's first season.
