Ringmer boss angry at ban, fine

RINGMER manager Steve Johnson is 'gutted' after being handed an eight-match ban and a £100 fine for being sent from the touchline during the John O'Hara Cup tie against Whitehawk in January.

Blues's Aaron MacMillan was sent off in the same incident.

Johnson said: 'I think the length of the ban is an absolute liberty, outrageous. Players get sent off for headbutting others and get three-game bans, so why have I got eight just for a bit of verbal?

'My record over the last four or five years stands up against anyone, it all depends who you get sitting on the disciplinary panel as to the length of the sentence. There's no conformity.

'I'll just have to suffer it. I could take it further but what's the point. It's spoilt my week, it's the principle of the thing.'

Ringmer were washed out against Arundel on Saturday and Sidley on Tuesday but Johnson is hopeful tomorrow's big clash with Crowborough at the Alderbrook will go ahead.

MacMillan is banned for the match, as are Dan McLaughlin and Herve King following their sendings-off against Eastbourne United.

The Crowborough v Ringmer game kicks off at 1.30pm, with the reserve teams meeting at 4pm.
