Rooks aim to close the gap

LEWES Football Club face up to a massive five days as they have home games against high-flying Histon tomorrow and Fisher Athletic on Wednesday.

The Rooks need maximum points from the games as they continue to pursue the slim hope of still making up the leeway in the league playoffs.

Manager Steve King said: 'We'll just take every game now as it comes, we'll go out and relax and see what happens.

'We're keeping clean sheets and scoring lots of goals and we're full of confidence.'

Results in the Conference South are highly unpredictable and King knows that a continuing surge from the Rooks will have clubs above them looking over their shoulders.

After a lengthy injury crisis King is happy that he now has a full squad available. Ian Simpemba and Simon Wormull are suspended for the Histon visit but there is now cover for most positions.

Andy Drury, who missed Tuesday's 3-0 Sussex Senior Cup quarter-final replay win over Horsham, is expected to be okay.

Drury received a three-inch gash down to the bone as he was brought down by the Dorchester goalkeeper when winning a penalty on Saturday. The cut became infected and he was rested against Horsham as a precaution.

Leon Legge is likely to replace Simpemba tomorrow though Matt McEntegart is another possibilty.
