H&B will travel to Kingston tomorrow (Saturday) in round three - or the last 16 - of the London & SE Junior Vase.

Kingston are second-bottom of Surrey One having won four and lost eight of their 12 games so far, while H&B are fourth in Kent One with nine wins and five defeats from 14 matches.

H&B head coach Chris Brooks said: “They’re not having a very happy season, however Surrey is a very tough league and the fact that they’re second-bottom doesn’t mean they’re not of a level.

“It’s a game we’re looking forward to with intrigue. The pressure’s off really and if we win it’s another feather in the cap and step forward. The Junior Vase is a bit of a lottery and you never quite know.”

H&B’s scheduled visit from unbeaten league leaders Sheppey last weekend was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch. It’s likely to be rearranged for February 27.

“It was a shame because we were well prepared for it,” continued Brooks. “We had a very physical training session on the Thursday, and I had all the guys wound up and ready to go.”

The club’s second team fixture suffered the same fate, with around two inches of standing water laying on the pitch in places.
