Spot-on Sidley reach final

SIDLEY United booked their place in the RUR Charity Cup final after a thrilling penalty shoot-out win over Selsey on Tuesday night.

The semi-final had finished 2-2 after extra time so spot-kicks were needed to decide who would meet Southwick in the final.

A staggering 18 penalties had been converted when Matt Shoesmith made a marvellous one-handed save to divert Barry Rishman's kick onto the bar, clearing the stage for Matt Dadswell to send David Leaver the wrong win to seal a dramatic victory.

A jubilant Dadswell said: "It felt really good. I was quite nervous. I was quite tired and picked up a couple of injuries during it. I hadn't taken a penalty in a long time."

Sidley had looked like winning in normal time as they led 2-1 until Clinton More struck in the second minute of added time.

Sidley took a 12th minute lead through Dave Ward but Selsey hit back eight minutes before half-time when Rishman made no mistake.

Sidley regained control with Wes Tate slamming the ball into the roof of the net from six yards.
