Ton-up hero Heather in old routine as Stirlands win at Littlehampton

Hosts Littlehampton asked Stirlands to bat in their Sussex division three west clash and they lost Nick Hunt, bowled by Jordan Farrell for a duck.

Lewis Allan and Sean Heather put on 39 before Allan holed out for 21.

Heather was joined by Will Gubbins, who supported Heather well – and for the second week running their partnership set up Stirlands.

They saw off new-ball duo Jordan Farrell and Thomas Lee. Dan Rive bowled steadily at one end but nobody at the other end could keep them quiet.

They were commanding and Heather’s first 50 came in 82 balls, Gubbins’ in 85.

Andy Greig was hit by Heather for 24 in one over as his second 50 arrived in 27 balls for his fourth consecutive century.

The partnership reached 183 before Heather fell for 129. Gubbins finished on 73 not out, allowing Stirlands to declare on 241 for four.

Littlehampton succumbed to the new-ball pair of Leo Beal and Jon Phillmore and were soon 11 for three.

Chris May (3-11) and Struan Cameron got among the wickets and Littlehampton didn’t have any answers – and after 24 overs they were 63 for nine.

Sam Mellor and Rive showed resolve before Hunt needed just one ball to have Rive caught brilliantly by Cameron for 35. Littlehampton were all out for 110.
