Weather kind to Crumplin

THE postponement of Ringmer's scheduled Sussex Senior Cup tie against Brighton And Hove Albion Reserves on Wednesday night owing to a waterlogged pitch did manager John Crumplin a favour.

Ringmer sit four points clear at the top of the County League but the Blues boss is suffering something of an injury crisis. Crumplin said: 'I was down to the bare bones at Southwick on Saturday and that was an awful game but the main thing is we got the points. I gave them a telling off at half-time.

'Darren Tidey (calf), Gavin Jones (thigh) and Dominic Shepherd (groin) are all trying to shake off injuries and I've got to play two of them. In addition Danny Bird, Joe Clark and Clay Lamont all have groin problems. We've got a big squad and we've needed it.

'We've made a great start to the season with 11 wins from 13 league games and we've got half a chance of the title.

'I'm also pleased the club has got the pitch in order, the new groundsman is doing a good job.

'Now it's Shoreham at home on Saturday and that won't be easy. Horsham YMCA manager John Suter tells me they are a tall side and difficult to break down. They don't concede many goals.'
