Wick lose out on penalties

WICK Football Club suffered penalty heartbreak on Tuesday night when they exited the FA Cup to Westfield.

The replay was played at Woking FC's stadium and Wick, the better side, had enough chances to win the game in normal, then extra time.

Westfield rattled Wick's bar early on but Wick's strike pair of Tom Manton and Peter Brackley were always a threat at the other end.

Brackley and Manton both had chances in the second period before Westfield had an effort ruled out for a foul on keeper Micky Phillips five minutes from the end of extra time.

With seconds left, Grant Vanson had a one-on-one winning opporttunity saved.

It then went to the lottery of penalties with Vanson, Brackley and Adam Hunt netting for Wick. It was Gary Young who was the unlucky player to miss when his spot-kick hit the inside of the post but did not cross the line.
