Brighton record label showcases five great bands

Burgeoning Brighton record label Drone Rock Records has again joined forces with the star children of Acid Box Promotions to present a gala evening of exceptional bands.

Friday, 1st November 2019, 11:55 am

The event, which takes place at the Hope and Ruin on November 9, will showcase the sounds of four of the label’s acts, GNOB, Yetti, Psychic Lemon, and Stereocilia, and special guest headliners 10 000 Russos, who release music on London’s Fuzz Club records

GNOB are a London-based trio meld loose rhythms with Eastern, psych-tinged, screaming guitar and soulful vocals, making for a vibrant, high-octane ride.

Yetti are a new addition to DRR, but have already supported the likes of Endless Boogie, The Cosmic Dead and Here Lies Man. Prepared to have your brains riffed out.

Psychic Lemon

Stereocilia is Bristol-based guitarist and composer, John Scott. John uses his guitar and live looping techniques to create dense, rich layers of sound.

Psychic Lemon describe their sound as a blend of psych and space-rock, and have been heralded as the pioneers for the new wave of modern Krautrock.

The band’s influences are broad, but choice artists include Hawkwind, Goat and Amon Düül II.

10, 000 Russos are a band so good they named them 10,000 times.

The Portuguese trio are purveyors of ‘long, obscure urban jams’ with echoes of Neu! and Suicide. Brighton’s Resident Records say their industrial psych/post-punk makes for a formidable force.

The showcase also features the gorgeous sights of Innerstrings, a live visual artist who has previously lit up Liverpool International Festival of Psychedelia and Mutations Festival, and sets from Acid Box DJs.

The night runs from 7pm to 12am.

Advance tickets: £10 (plus booking fee) or £12 on the door.
