The funds that were raised across the weekend will support the charity’s mission, encouraging those from underprivileged backgrounds to thrive within the creative sector by providing individuals with a platform to discover their skills and passions through the worlds of sci-fi and fantasy.

The annual family-friendly event will return to Eastbourne on the weekend of October 14-15 as ‘Wyntercon X’ marks the ten year anniversary since the charity’s inception.

“Every single ticket and stall sold, as well as each workshop, sponsorship or donation provided, makes a phenomenal difference to the lives of so many people. It helps the charity to provide vital educational opportunities that some individuals would never have had access to.

“Without you, this special event just wouldn’t be possible - we really appreciate each and every one of you for helping to enable it to be a great success and such a fantastic fun Comic Con where each person feels truly welcome.”

There was lots in store for Wyntercon attendees to enjoy, including props and replicas ranging across fan-favourite franchises from Stranger Things to Back To The Future, a vast selection of stalls selling merchandise, free creative and skill-developing workshops, relaxed table-top gaming areas, special guests from the TV, film and comic industry and colourful cosplay competitions which saw hundreds of people dressed as their favourite characters for the day.

In their review of the event, one cosplayer said: “Wyntercon has to be the BEST comic con event I've ever had the pleasure to take part in.

“The whole atmosphere is just so chilled and so much fun, it’s a place where everyone can truly enjoy being part of the cosplay community and be proud of their costumes, a place where everyone is included and encouraged.”

A parent in attendance added: “Wyntercon keeps getting better every year, it’s such an amazing day out. My four-year-old saw true magic in seeing all of his heroes. Everyone had so much time for him.”

Tickets for the Eastbourne-based Comic Con at the Winter Gardens will be on sale soon with the line up to be announced in due course.
