Quick and easy recipes for using leftover sourdough
Jason’s Bread, the creators of the artisan sourdough ‘Ciabattin’ sliced loaf, and recipe writer, Beverley Hicks have teamed up to create three easy and delicious leftover bread recipes using Jason’s Bread.
They could not have come at a better time, with people across the nation rising to the challenge of becoming star sourdough bakers. These recipes are perfect for the heels and crusts still kicking about that could be transformed into a mouth-watering treat!

Hide Ad• Quantities are relative to how much bread you have leftover and taste preference.
Paprika Bread Crust Chips

Ingredients:
Leftover sourdough
Olive oil
Salt
Ground black pepper
Sweet smoked paprika
Method:
1) Preheat your oven to 180c/350f/Gas 4
2) Remove the crusts from thick slices of sourdough bread and place them in a bowl.
3) Drizzle over some olive oil and toss to evenly coat the bread crusts.
4) Sprinkle with salt, freshly ground black pepper and sweet smoked paprika and continue to toss.

Hide Ad5) Spread evenly onto a baking tray lined with kitchen foil and bake for 5 to 8 minutes until golden brown and crunchy.
Waffle Cinnamon Toast

Ingredients (for 2 people):
2 slices of leftover sourdough
1 large Egg
2 tbsp caster sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Method:
1) Remove the crusts from thick slices of sourdough bread.
2) Whisk together the egg, sugar and cinnamon in a medium sized bowl
3) Dunk the bread slices into the egg mixture one at a time, and leave to soak for 5 minutes.
4) Remove the bread from the egg mixture and cook in a waffle maker (if you don’t have one, fry it in a pan for 5 minutes each side to make French Toast)

Hide Ad5) Drizzle over lots of maple-syrup and add your favourite toppings!
Bread Churros

Ingredients (for 2 people):
2 slices of leftover sourdough
3 tbsp butter
2 tbsp caster sugar
1 tsp ground cinnamon
Nutella to serve
Method:
1) Remove the crusts and slice the remaining bread into sticks (use the
crusts for the Paprika Chips!)
2) Melt the butter in a pan and coat all sides of the breadsticks in butter. Fry
on all sides until crispy and golden.
3) Transfer the crispy breadsticks to a bowl of sugar and cinnamon and toss
to coat.
4) Serve with a small pot of Nutella!
