Child arrested over Hastings school fire

An 11-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of starting a fire at a school.

The blaze broke out in a cloakroom at Ore Village Primary Academy on Rye Road shortly after 11.30am yesterday (Wednesday, March 16).

Some children’s coats and bags were destroyed in the fire and one pupil was taken to hospital suffering the effects of smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated.

Sussex Police arrested an 11-year-old boy on suspicion of arson with intent.

He been released on bail until April 15, pending further enquiries.
