Police are launching an appeal after a motorcycle was stolen in St Leonards.

The Honda motorcycle was taken from outside a property in Old Church Road at about 4.10pm on Sunday, October 23.

Police said at around the same time, police received several calls from members of the public reporting incidents involving a group of youths, specifically that they were stealing a motorcycle.

The victim was alerted to the theft of the motorcycle by a neighbour. The youths were found with the motorcycle near Battle Road and were seen to be hitting it with a hammer, police added.

The group then fled the scene when confronted by members of the public.

Police said officers searched the area, took witness statements, and recovered the motorcycle.

Enquiries are continuing, and witnesses or anyone with relevant information or footage is asked to report it to Sussex Police online or call 101 and quote serial 808 of 23/10.
