Brighton walk-in centre to open until 2am during Pride

Brighton and Hove’s clinical commissioning group (CCG) said the Brighton Station Health Centre will open from 8am to 2am on Saturday and Sunday (August 4-5).

With hundreds of thousands of people set to travel to the city this weekend for Pride, as well as the hot weather, the NHS wants to encourage people to find alternatives to A&E.

Dr David Supple, clinical chair of the CCG, said: “This Pride, if you do need urgent care that is not an emergency, you can get treated quickly without an appointment at the Brighton Station Health Centre. There is no need to be a registered patient or to make an appointment to and it offers easy access to quick treatment with extended hours just for Pride.

“Everyone can #HelpMyNHS by choosing the right service at the right time, freeing up emergency services for those most in need.”

The CCG said the last few months have been ‘extremely difficult’ for the NHS across the country, especially on A&E departments and local GP surgeries as they cope with increasing numbers of people seeking treatment.

It urged people with minor infections and rashes, stomach upsets, superficial cuts and bruises, minor burns and strains to visit Brighton Station Health Centre for treatment.

There is no need to be a registered patient or to make an appointment to use the walk-in centre and it offers quick treatment close to home.

People can also dial 111 if they need medical help but are not in a life-threatening situation.
